Since Saturday?!?

Has it really been five days?! Boy, have I been busy.

Sunday, we did our yearly father's day tradition of going to the movies. We usually do this on father's day, but Cars 2 wasn't out yet, so we went and saw it this past weekend. It was a cute movie. It was good, but I like the first one better. I'm not going to tell you about it, because I don't want to spoil it for the ones that are planning to see it. We also went to Red Robin for dinner! YUM!! I love Red Robin. It's one of my favorite places to eat! And my dad's as well!! :) OH! And I also received an email saying my bridesmaid dress was in for my friend's wedding!! When I go pick it up, I'll take pictures and post them!

Monday was boring. I just worked all day and relaxed that night.

Tuesday was kind of similar. I worked all day, then when I got home, I ran. I ran a mile in 12 minutes and 48 seconds!! Yay me!! For this being my first run all summer, that's awesome!!! I've also decided that I need to stop eating fried food because it's starting to hurt my insides. :( And I need to keep my weight down to fit into my bridesmaid dress.

Wednesday I had to go to Columbus. We closed the office for the day because we all had to go to all day training. The training was long and boring, but it made the week interesting. I left my house by 7am and got home around 5. I went to my grandma's after work, which was nice. She took me to dinner and Dairy Queen and all was well. I don't get to see her often because life gets in the way, so it's always nice to visit. And we went to my cousin's house because I had a birthday gift for her son, who turned 1 this past weekend. Because of the movie, I missed his birthday party, but that's okay. All worked out in the end. :)

And now it's already Thursday. Because of the training yesterday, it feels like Monday again. I keep reminding myself that it's almost the weekend, and it makes me smile. :) I'm excited for the weekend because it is a three day weekend. YAY!

As you know from my earlier post, I've decided to join Twitter, but I still need help. Feel free to leave input! I appreciate it!! Thanks!!

Happy Thursday to y'all!!

*JRB

P.S. I added a new page called working story. Check it out for updates on my job search!

Another Twitter Post...

Okay, so I've decided to open a Twitter account.
However, I have no idea what to name it.

Should I use my name?
Should I use my blog name?
Should I create a new name altogether?

What do you think? Your input is much appreciated, so please help!

P.S. Look back later today for a post on why I've been absent since Saturday! (I know, right?!?)

Updating...

Is it bad that if I don't update y'all everyday, I feel behind? Maybe it's just me.

But anyways, here are my recent doings of the last day or so.

1. I'm still job searching. I applied at Babies R Us, but they said they couldn't consider my application at the time. They're going to keep my "profile" on record for any other openings that I might be qualified for, but I'm not going to hold my breath.

2. The Lion King on stage is in town until July and I went with Love and his family and saw it today. It was excellent! The show was just like the movie, only it was on stage. I came and wanted to watch the movie, but when I got home, I found out we don't own it on DVD. We used to own it on VHS, but we have since gotten rid of our VCR. So, needless to say, I was bummed.

3. I'm completely addicted to Pinterest. It's becoming part of my online routine: check email, check Facebook, check Blogger, check Pinterest. You know, the usual. :)

4. I've been searching for new music recently, and I found out that Brad Paisley released a new album in May. So I went and bought it:

That's all I have for now, but I'm sure there's more. I hope everyone is having a great weekend!

Pinterest and Twitter

So, I joined Pinterest! You can follow me here! I really like it, and I think I might become addicted... ;)

And I think I might join Twitter, but I'm still not 100% certain about that one. When or if I do, I will definitely let you know! If you think I should join, let me know why and it will help me make my decision! :)

Y'all are amazing and I really do appreciate your comments and thoughts.

Breaking the Ice

Perfectly imperfect Jenn

This is a new post hosted by Jenn.

1) Tell one thing not many people know about you.
Without knowing me personally, you wouldn’t know that I have 7 siblings.

2) If you HAD to change your first name, what would you change it to?
When I was little, I always wanted my name to be something like Stacey or Amanda, but I like being Jessica. As my friend Ted said, “You’re not a girl, you’re Jess!” :)

3) What are your 3 favorite songs of the moment?
I’m on a country kick right now, so my 3 favorites are “Honey Bee” by Blake Shelton, “Put You In A Song” by Keith Urban, and “Heart Like Mine” by Miranda Lambert.

4) List 3 goals on your life's to-do list:
  • Have a family
  • Travel to England
  • Find a career that I love

5) What is one of your favorite quotes?
“Life isn't measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away.”

6) Fill in the blank: If I had an extra 10 dollars to spend . . I would buy __________?
…a new charm for my charm bracelet.

7) What’s your birth date?
April 7, 1986. I reached a quarter century of life this year.

8) Do you have a hidden talent and if so what is it?
I can sing, but I don’t know if you call that a hidden talent.

9) What do you think of when you hear the word "blue"?
I think of the song “Dark Blue” by Jack’s Mannequin.

10) Finish this thought: I need . . .
…to find a great job.

Link up with Jenn so I can see your answers! :)

A few things of interest...

Okay, so there have been a few things that have caught my interest:

1. Twitter. So many people have one, but I don't understand it.
2. Pinterest. I see so many people talking about it. What is it? What would I have to do "pin" things?

These are just a couple of things that have caught my eye recently.
What are your thoughts or opinions on these things?

P.S. I now have 20 followers!
Sorry, I just think this is awesome! :)

Job Searching Update!!

As of last night, I started the application process. I applied for a job at Books & Co for a Co-Manager position. (!!!) I think I'm qualified for it, and I don't even need a degree for it! How fabulous is that?!?

Also, Bath and Body Works near me is hiring a Co Manager, and since one of my friends is a Co-Manager at another BBW, I'm going ask her about it and see what she could do for me, if I need help!

Finally, a guy I work with was telling me about the chamber of commerce website for my city. On there they have listings for employment and training!

Needless to say, this week is starting off great when it comes to employment!

I've also decided that I'm going to try and apply for at least one job opening each night, hopefully more. I work a regular "9-5" job, so I won't be searching or applying while sitting at my work computer, so I only have the evenings and weekends to search currently, but that's okay. All will work out in the end. :)

Happy Tuesday!

I need some help... Please?

Okay, so, as you know, I graduated this past quarter with an Associate's degree in Marketing.

Right now I work at a small credit union, and I like it, but I can't live off my current income. I started searching for a job, but most of what I've searched for has needed Bachelor's degrees or experience. I've tossed around the idea of becoming an assistant manager because it's more likely to have a flexible schedule and the possibility of more hours, and I do have some management classes/training, but that's also been proven difficult to search.

This is where you all come in:

  • What do you think I should do?

  • What should I be including my search considering the above information?

  • Any suggestions as to where I could work?

If you could give me any input or your own opinions about my situation, I would greatly appreciate it! You're all the best!

Happy Father's Day!!

This is my wonderful daddy and me.

I decided to put a funny picture up instead of a nice one, because, well, he's a goof. And I love him just the way he is. This picture was taken last year on my birthday (April 2010), and is the most updated one of just the two of us.

This man is amazing. He is the best father a girl could ever ask for. I mean it. Although him and my mom are divorced, he never ceased to be my dad. He is always there for me and my siblings, and he teaches us great life lessons, even if they don't seem like it at first. He's a great role model and an excellent daddy.

I love you, Daddy, Happy Father's Day.

5 Things Friday

hosted by simple girl

1. I'm so glad it's the weekend! I think I said this last week, but really, weekends are amazing!!

2. I'm working at a different office today, and it's kind of nice. I'm by myself and I can read my book with (almost) no interruptions.

3. I made a new mixed CD for my car and I'm excited to listen to it! I have an iPod I can listen to if I wanted to, but it's just too much hassle compared to a CD.

4. Love is having a bad day and I feel bad that there's nothing I can do for him at the moment. :(

5. I'm excited to be going to dinner with the family to Texas Roadhouse! I'm hoping Love can join us and I can cheer him up, but we'll see!

What are your 5 things? :)

*JRB

Fill In The Blank Friday

1. The last movie I saw was Hangover Part 2, just yesterday actually.
2. I want to sleep!! I haven’t been able to sleep in for awhile and I miss it.
3. Surprises are so amazing! I love it when Love surprises me at work, or with random gifts.
4. The best accessory is the necklace Love gave me for our 2 year anniversary. It goes with anything I wear.
5. My favorite warm drink is a white chocolate mocha from Starbuck’s.
6. My favorite cold drink is a strawberry banana smoothie from McDonald's. Yum!!
7. Currently loving my wonderful family. Without them, I wouldn’t be who I am today.

Have a good Friday!!

The Story of Date Night

Tonight Love and I had a date night. It was nice.

For my birthday, BFF gave me a gift card to:

We went there for dinner and it was delicious.

As a reward from Love's credit card points, he redeemed some of them for two tickets to the movies. We went to see:

...hilarious.
The movie was good, but it's not really my cup of tea. There's a lot of crudeness (if that's even a word) in the movie, and I'm not really a fan of it. But the movie was good and funny and that's all that really matters, right? :)

So our date was really a free date, with the gift card and free movie tickets.
Which is even better!!

I love my love.
Three years together and he's still so much fun to be around. One day we're going to get married, but for right now, dating is just fine. :)

I hope you all had a great Thursday!!

The Story of Bridesmaid Dress Shopping

{Photo from 808 Studios Photography}

These two are my friends Danielle and Brandon. They are getting married in September and I am a bridesmaid in the wedding. Tonight, I went with Danielle and another bridesmaid, Ciera, to look at bridesmaid dresses. There were a few that Danielle liked, but after 30 minutes of decision making, she decided on this one:

This isn't the color of the dress, as the actual color being ordered isn't technically available until the 26th, or at least that's what we're told. The color of the dress will be Plum, and when it comes in 8 weeks from now, I will post an actual picture of it for you all to see. I'm really excited about this dress, and the wedding. And I think Danielle said she might want us to wear silver shoes, but she also said something about black shoes... hmmm... we shall see!!

I hope everyone had a great Tuesday!!

Oh, how I love weekends...

Wow! It's been a busy weekend! But it's been great!

Love graduated college Saturday morning. I'm so proud of him! He actually finished his bachelor's in four years! There's not a lot of people I know that have done that. So, go him!! He also had his grad party last night. It was fun! A lot of people came and after the party all the friends went out for drinks at Cadillac Jack's. Knowing I was finished with school made my night more relaxing and enjoyable. :)

Today was the St. Helen Festival. And the weather couldn't have been more perfect!! The high was no more than mid-70s (I don't know the actual temperature) with a light breeze. Since we were there for over 6 hours, that was great! I worked in the gym for Bingo, and it was nice. Relaxing and not too hot equals a happy Jess.

The upcoming week is full of work and time with friends. I hope everyone has a great week and had a great weekend!!

5 Things Friday

I think it's about time for another 5 things, hosted by simple girl.

1. I'm so excited to be finished with my degree!
2. Tonight I get to see one of my friends that I haven't seen in a few weeks.
3. The book I recently started reading is not a good one for leisure reading.
4. Despite the fact that it's 80 degrees outside, I'm cold! Brrr!
5. I love my boyfriend. He is amazing, and I can't imagine my life if he were no longer in it.

That's all I have for now! Come back later for more!

*JRB

Fill In The Break Friday

This is another possible Friday post I might start doing.

1. This weekend I'm going to watch Love graduate college and go to the St. Helen Festival.
2. My last vacation was over Spring Break in March, with Love to visit his aunt and uncle in Utah.

3. My next vacation will be hopefully spent with Love. I don't have anything planned at the moment, but he loves going on vacation.

4. My favorite way to relax is to read a good book!

5. When vacationing one should always enjoy themselves. It's not fun to go on vacation and not have fun. After all, what are vacations for?

6. When vacationing one should never worry. Worrying is for everyday life, and vacation is time away from everyday life.

7. The best part about a vacation is relaxing.

I hope you all enjoy your day!

Believe it or not...

...I am kind of a list person.

And now that school is pretty much over (Yay!!!), I've decided to make one filled with goals for the summer.

Summer To-Do Goals:

1. Read as many books as I can, that I've been collecting since Christmas.

2. Personalize my blog to reflect who I am more than what it already is.

3. Search for a new job that is more long term and pays more than my current one.

4. Pay down my credit card, as the gas prices have forced me to use it more than I want to.

5. Relax!! I shouldn't have trouble with this since I'm graduating this quarter and don't have to worry about Fall classes!

I'm sure there will be more added, but I'll add them when the time comes. Have a good Tuesday!! :)

Monday Posts

I have to say, I like reading all the Monday posts from the blogs I follow. Everyone seems to have fun and interesting weekends, and it's nice to read about their happiness. :)

Today, I can honestly say, that I had a good weekend as well. It was much needed!!! Saturday, I spent the whole day with Love. We went to Trader's World, and I bought a new purse, a breast cancer awareness shirt, and a few other random things. We were there for a couple hours, but while we were at the outside part of it, the heat was wow. It wasn't "unbearable" per se, but it was hot! After that, we went to Noble Roman's and ate lunch and went to Wal-Mart Supercenter. I bought a couple of tank tops, but I didn't try them on, assuming they were my size. We then went back to his house, and relaxed a little bit. I tried on the tops and they were a little more snug than I wanted. Later, Love and I ended up going to a few places out by the mall, and the mall as well. While out and about, we stopped at different Wal-Mart and I exchanged my shirts for another size. They fit wonderfully. :) After getting back to his house, I went home, because it was getting late.

Sunday, I slept in until 10:30. That was nice. My dad made cinnamon roles for breakfast and I took a shower and got ready for the day. Sunday was kind of a lazy day, as I did laundry and helped tape off the trim in the hallway for painting the hallway. I then went to Mom's house. Saturday was Sissy's birthday and my mom bought her a cake. I gave my birthday gift to her and she loved it. When I got home that night, the living room and hallway were painted and it looks great! I should take a picture and post it... But anyways, not much else happened yesterday. Which was fine. :) I hope you all had a wonderful weekend!

I have to say, I like logging on and seeing that I have more followers. :)
What can I say? Little things amuse me.

Also, today is Sissy's birthday. She's 20 now, and no longer a "teenager".
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, SISSY!!!

5 Things Friday

This is new, from simple girl, and I like it much better than other friday posts I've seen.

So, here goes:

1. I'm so excited that it's Friday, and that the weekend is almost here!!
2. I'm also excited that tomorrow is my first relaxing Saturday in a while!
3. I just want this quarter of school to be over with. Please?
4. The weather is beautiful outside! I wish I wasn't at work, and I was out enjoying the sun and warmth!
5. Caffeine is my drug of choice. For the last few weeks I've been so stressed, that I haven't been able to sleep well, and everyday (today included) I've consumed a lot of caffeine.

That's all for today, Lovelies!

Perks of Blogging

While doing our weekly office cleaning, I was thinking...

I was thinking about blogging, because I want to blog more than what I do now. Then I got thinking about why I want to. Well, because. (child's voice: "Because, why?")

There are many perks to blogging, I've found:
1. I can go in depth about things I want to talk about.
2. I'm saving paper not using a journal.
3. 99% of the people I rant about don't read this on a daily basis, so they can't get mad at me for ranting about them.
4. With this being a public blog, I still feel like it's private. Most of you reading this, don't know me on a personal level, so I feel I can share things about myself I wouldn't normally share and you won't think I'm crazy.

I'm sure there are more, but these are the few that I've come up with.

Rant time...

It's time for a rant.

First off, the office is really hot! Our a/c has to be hot-wired in order to work, and the company we use has yet to be here to switch it from heat to cold. So the heat just may be the reason for this rant.

Second, I really don't like early lunches. If I had a choice I would have my lunch at 1:30 everyday, and not think twice about it. But I don't. They've pretty much decided that they don't want lunches to go past 2, and a lady I work with always takes her lunch at 1. Great job being "easy" as you always say you are.

Third, I just want school to be OVER! I have a presentation due in each class, and the one I'm the "leader" on, I just want to be finished with now. The report for it is due tomorrow, and we're presenting it on Tuesday. The report can die and never come back as far as I'm concerned.

Fourth, I want my life back. A lot of my friends have been going places, such as the zoo, and having a good time, and I haven't had time to do anything. This is the first weekend I don't have any plans to help anyone, and I'm keeping it that way. Love and I are going to Trader's World on Saturday and I'm soooo looking forward to it, and spending some quality time with him. I miss him like crazy.

That is all I have to rant about for now. I hope everyone's Wednesday is going better than mine! :)
