Halloween Scavenger Hunt

As I said on Tuesday, it was going to take me all week to recap my weekend. Well here is part two! And a perfect day for it, since it's Halloween!! :)
(Bear with me as this post may be a little long.)

Friday night, the city of Fairborn was hosting a scavenger hunt to the Mortician's Ball, and you had to be dressed as your favorite dead person, or create an original costume. So like any other group of respectable people, my friends and Zach and I got dressed up and went around downtown Fairborn looking for the Ball.
Zach and I were The Phantom and Christine, a few of our friends were Bonnie and Clyde, and a Day of the Dead Bride and Groom.
Our other friends were Walter White and Kurt Cobain. Another one of our friends was with us, but I didn't get a good picture of her costume, and she was dressed as her dead childhood.

The scavenger hunt was so much fun! The only thing was that it was really cold outside and I only had my scarf as a cover. Let me tell you, I was so excited when we finally found the Ball.

And then the disappointment set in...

We arrived at the Ball and it was in a theatre. People were sitting in the chairs just chatting, like they were waiting for a show to start. But there wasn't a show. At the front of the chairs was a table where you could guess the number of body parts in the jar.

Then there was a costume contest. They had three categories of costumes: famous dead people, literary dead people, and original dead people. Bonnie and Clyde won first place in the famous category, and The Phantom won second place. The bride and groom were the only ones in the original category, and won both first and second prizes.

And that was it.

The Ball was over.

I don't know about you, but when I hear that there's going to be a Ball, I think of a dance, or party. I was SUPER disappointed. And hungry. So we all went to TGI Friday's.
Groom. Goofing off with Kurt Cobain. Stacking glasses.
While we were all eating Zach suggested having another scavenger hunt. So we planned one for Sunday evening.

***

We all met at our friend's house and separated into two teams and wrote out the clues for the other team. Zach and I came up with the final clue, since we were both on different teams and we were the two honest ones of our teams. Most of the clues were at a local university that Zach goes to, and the last clue was in downtown Fairborn, 10 minutes away.
Where is the piano?
The first clue, we knew what we were looking for, and it wasn't there anymore. As we were doing the hunt, we all decided we would take a picture of us with the answer and tweet it, so the other team knew they had found it.
The galleries. Bacon! B.A.R.T. Fairborn
The other team beat us, even though they didn't tweet about it. But we went inside and there was an electrocution that was about to take place, (a prop for the season) so they let us all behind the rope. Halfway through the electrocution, they stopped it right before the dummy got electrocuted and our friend got on one knee and proposed! It was so neat! His words when they stopped it were "The real shock is this..."
The rest of us were off to the side holding pumpkins that said "Will you marry me?" It was so sweet!!

And of course she said yes!
After that, they finished the electrocution, and we left. We went back to her house, where she told her parents, and then went to eat at Steak N Shake.
We're both now part of the e-club!!
And of course I had to get some of my and my love!

*A few things to note:
-The scavenger hunt idea was originally his idea, but he wanted Zach to bring it up so she wouldn't get suspicious. He had been talking to Zach for at least a week about planning this.
-Earlier that day, I had taken her shopping so he could plan everything. She wanted him to come along, but I pretended I got into a fight with my dad and didn't want to be around men, so that he could stay behind and plan.
-Everyone who participated in the scavenger hunt knew about the proposal except her. And she was completely shocked.
-The other team didn't actually finish the scavenger hunt because they wanted to beat us there and get things ready for the proposal.
-All day while we were shopping, I wanted so badly to talk to her about what was going on that night.

Both scavenger hunts were fun, but I definitely enjoyed Sunday's better than Friday's. ;)

Disney on Ice!

I have had a pretty busy week/weekend since Wednesday! And it will probably take me the rest of the week to recap it. So here goes!!

Wednesday, my friend invited me to go with her and her Princess to see Disney on Ice. I was so excited!
So excited, in fact, that I left my camera at home, and all the pictures I have are from my iPhone. And only a small amount of them turned out okay.

There were different scenes that included the Princesses and their Princes, Pinocchio, It's A Small World, Toy Story, and others.
I wish I would have remembered to grab my camera, but I didn't. Oh well, these things happen. :)

Grecian Goddess?

A few weeks ago, my MOH and I went to a bridal salon and tried on many bridesmaid dresses. I wanted to go with just her and narrow it down to just a few out before taking my whole, as she called it, "entourage". So we narrowed it down to 3 2 styles.

The other night, I got all my girls together and we all went and choose one style for the wedding.
Style 1: This dress came in a short style and a long style, so there were enough to get everyone in a dress. If this dress was chosen, we would go with the short style. I said that to the group and my MOH said, "What, you don't want us to look like Grecian Goddesses?" We all chuckled.
Style 2: This dress only came in this style, because of it's uneven hemline, so they only had 3 to try on. (Sorry about the stickers, but none of them were ready for me to take a picture.)

The 3rd style no one tried on. It was a short spaghetti strap dress with a balloon hemline made of satin. I wanted something more flowy like the other two, so I nixed it.

Which one do you like?

Which one did we choose?

Is the suspense killing you?

Can I ask you anymore questions?

Okay, I'm done.

We

all

liked

one

style

over

the

other

style.

And we chose

style

number

TWO!!

But we're going green. No one ordered their dress last night, but when they do I can't wait to see them in my color in PERSON!!! I'm so stinking excited!!

I've also decided we all need to get together more often as a group. And I think they would agree. :)

Sunshine, Sunshine!

Hello, my lovely readers! How are you on this fine day? Me? I'm doing swell!

Ok, I'm done here.

But seriously. How is your day going? Mine's going pretty well, so far. My dear friend Rachael nominated me for the Sunshine Award!

The idea of the award is to nominate 10 bloggers whose posts brighten your day.

The Rules
1. Include the award logo in your post. Check!
2. Link to the person who nominated you. Check!
3. Answer 10 questions about yourself.
4. Nominate 10 bloggers to receive the award. Link the nominees to your post and notify them!

Questions from Rachael:
1.  Tell me about the first pet you ever owned, or if you never had one what your dream pet would be!
My first pet was my dear Shadow. He was a beautiful black long haired cat. And I miss him dearly.

2.  What is the sneakiest thing you did as a child that your parents never found out about?
When I was a kid, I wanted the Kid Sister doll so bad for Christmas. My mom had our presents wrapped under the tree the week before Christmas. One night her and my stepdad had gone out. I was really anxious to find out if she got me Kid Sister, so very carefully, I had taken scissors and cut the tape on a big present to me. I was so excited to see it was Kid Sister!! I then took the tape and retaped the gift back so it looked like it did when my mom wrapped it. When I really opened it on Christmas morning, I acted so happy to finally have my own Kid Sister. I did tell my mom a couple of years ago about this and she was just like “Really, Jess?”

3.  Wine and cheese or beer and a burger?
How about a strawberry margarita and a burger? I don’t like beer, and wine and cheese is too fancy for me. :)

4.  Extreme destination: the Sahara desert or Antarctica?
Oh wow, this one is tough. I don’t know which one I would choose. Maybe Antarctica?

5. What is one little quirk you have?
When I go to sleep at night, all the doors have to be closed. Closet doors and bedroom door.

6.  What electronic device do you (guiltily) admit that you cannot live without?
My cell phone. No question.

7.  Favorite breakfast food?
Cereal. I love Cap’n Crunch, Cinnamon Toast Crunch, and Honey Nut Cheerios.

8.  What is something you look for more than anything in a friend?
A great personality. I like it when I have things in common with my friends and we can laugh and make fun of the same things.

9.  You get to write a book and have 1 million copies published.  What would it be about?
I would want to write a bestselling novel. I don’t know what it would be about, but it would be a good one! ;)

10.  Tell us about how you started blogging!
I started this blog to write about my life. I knew when I started this blog, that Zach and I would eventually get engaged and start our lives together and I wanted to document that, among other random life moments.

Nominations:
EVERYONE!! It's too difficult to try and narrow down who's posts brighten my day the most. ;)

And then.....!!!!

She nominated me for the Versatile Blogger Award!!

Registered!

The last time I posted about wedding updates was on our 10 month engagiversary. And one of the things on the list of things that needed to be started was our wedding registry. So we did!

Last week, we went to our local BB&B and set up our registry. We had to wait a little bit for the registry person, since he was also the manager on duty, but we didn't wait more than 5 minutes or so.
This is his "Really?" face.
The first thing we picked out was our china. Well, our everyday dishes. ;) Since the styles in the store change by season, he showed us the sets that don't change and the colors they come in. We decided on one of the sets that don't change and a color that I think we both really like. We saw all the colors that it came in and we both were drawn to the color we picked.

After that he gave us a scanner and we were off to scan our little hearts away.
This is the only picture I got of us there.
We didn't finish our registry that night. We got hungry and knew we could finish it later, so we turned in the scanner and left for Noodles and Company.

Of course, we couldn't go the whole night without a goofy photo.
I'm so excited that we started our registry!! I can't wait to go back and finish it or add to it!
