It's Beginning to Look a lot like Christmas!

(This post was intended for Monday, but I just forgetting to hit Post!)

I am so excited for it to be December and the Christmas season!
It is my favorite time of year!

This long 4 day weekend was amazing!
I ate way too much, as I'm sure most of you did.
But this is the only picture I took.
I spent my time with family and my phone and camera were put away.

After dinner, Zach and I met up with our friend and her mom and I went Black Friday (or Thursday, in this case) shopping for the first time in my life. I've always been on the selling side of things, so being on the consumer side was interesting.
Waiting in line to get free t-shirts!
It was fun, and we didn't go out early enough to wait in line, except when checking out.

Friday night was my dad's family thanksgiving and I again ate way too much.
I didn't take any pictures, but later that night I found this selfie my brother took with my phone.

The rest of the weekend was pretty lazy, except Sunday we decorated for Chistmas.
1. Our beautiful tree
2. Our first couple ornament
3. Some of my favorite ornaments, 2 of which are part of different Hallmark series
4. Our tree Angel and snowman tealight holder
5. One of our wall shelves with 2 shelves decorated
6. Holiday beanie babies
7. My Hallmark carousel and more beanie babies
8. Our stockings

I am so excited to be able to celebrate Christmas this year with my husband!
Our first married Christmas and being in our own place!
It's going to be a great season!

New Look?

I figured it was about time for a new look.
I would love to say Erin did this handy work, but a gorgeous blog design is not currently in the budget, so I found some cute free designs to keep my blog looking good until I can hire Erin.

What do you think?
I like it.
Even Zach likes it!

On another note, I'm pretty excited for this 3 day work week.
I don't think I've ever had one and gotten paid for the 2 days off without taking vacation.

And what better way to spend those two days off work then spending time with family and eating your weight in delicious food?
Zach and I have a Thanksgiving with my mom's family on Thursday, and one with my dad's family on Friday. It's going to be a fun two days.

Until next time...

Oooops!!

Well apparently, I'm not very good at blogging as of late.
And I'm sure I sound like a broken record when I say this.
I mean, I've only blogged twice (here and here) in the last 3 months.
I haven't even told you about my new job!

Things have got to change around here. Right? Yeah.

For right now, until I can get on a good schedule, my goal is to blog at least once a week.
Even if it's just a funny meme or quote or something.
I don't want to go months without blogging again, if I can help it.

For today, here's a throwback Thursday to 6 and a half years ago.
We were babes!
Yesterday marked 6 and a half years since Zach asked me to be his girlfriend.
It's been a wonderful 6 and a half years together and I'm so glad I get to call him mine!

Happy Thursday!!

A Little Update.

So I may or may not have just realized I haven't posted in 2 months.
Oops.

And I've been married for almost 4 months and haven't said much about it either.

I'm batting a 1000 with this little blog here.

My hope is to start posting again within the week and telling you all about my new job, the wedding, and life in general.

Until then, enjoy this selfie of me rooting on the Bengals at work in my orange and black. (Even if they don't play until 8:30 tonight.)

An Evening Post

A week from today I start my new job and I cannot wait!
I can't wait to be able to tell you that I had a great weekend, instead of telling you I worked all weekend.
I can't wait to have the same days off as my husband, and be able to sleep in with him.
I can't wait to have a set schedule and plan things.
I can't wait to have a consistent paycheck (I'll be salary).
I can't wait to meal plan.
I can't wait to set aside a weekly time slot to plan my grocery trips.
I can't wait to know several weeks in advance if I'll be able to say yes or no to something.
I can't wait to be able to set up a blogging schedule.
I can't wait for a lot of things.
I just can't wait!

This Sunday is family dinner and I'm so glad I'll be able to enjoy it without stressing about work.
The last few weeks at work have been awful and I don't see this week getting any better, so once Saturday night comes, I'll breathe a huge sigh of relief and enjoy my Sunday.

And once Monday morning comes I just need to...

Tuesday Wisdom

While I sit here waiting for shipment to arrive at work, I've been scrolling through Facebook and other social media. Browsing through my news feed, I came across a friend of one of my close friends and decided to stalk see what she's been up to. I click on her name and she has her profile private so that I can only see her change her profile picture and cover photo. Most of her profile pictures are selfies and most of her cover photos are quotes. Being a lover of a good quote I decided to see what she had in her cover photo album. I loved some, and didn't love some. And the ones I love I just have to share. So here's a little Tuesday Wisdom for you. (I realize I could wait until tomorrow and do Wednesday Wisdom, but where's the fun in that? #amiright?)

Happy Tuesday!

Ranting and Announcing

I will never understand some people.
As you may or may not know, I work in retail and it can be stressful. Recently, my job has been even more stressful than normal. Our store manager left for a better opportunity, and a couple more people have claimed that they "don't need this job" or "don't need to work".

Well that must be nice.

It must be nice to know that if you want to quit without another job lined up, you can.
It must be nice to make money you don't need to pay bills.
It must be nice to know your spouse can support your family on their own.
It must be nice to constantly complain about it.

I like all my coworkers. Really, I do. I get along with them, we work well as a team, but when a select few start complaining about things they CAN change, I get frustrated.
Why are you going to stay at a job you constantly complain about, but don't need?
I will never understand it.
Luckily for me, I won't have to listen to it much longer.

Remember when I said that great things were keeping me busy and I couldn't wait to tell you  what it is?
Well, two weeks ago I went an did an assessment and aptitude test for a local company here in Dayton. After I was finished testing, I met with a recruiting coordinator and discussed the jobs I applied for as well as another one I didn't apply for. The RC said with my background in customer service and retail that this job would be a good fit for me. So we talked about different aspects of both jobs and I ultimately told him let's go for the good fit. He went and talked to the management of that department, and I had an interview with 2 managers. After my interview they let me sit in on someone in that department. When I left, I had spent almost 4 hours there. Before I left, though, they wanted to set up a meeting with the VP of the department, and it was scheduled for the following Thursday (a week ago).
I went in Thursday and talked with the VP and he said that he just likes to meet potential candidates and get a feel for their personality.
I must have a great personality because he said he was going to send in one of the girls to administer a drug test and get my consent for a background check, and once the results come back I will receive a call.
I wasn't expecting to hear anything until yesterday, because they said the results take 1-2 weeks, but Tuesday I got the call.
I got offered the job, at the max starting pay.
I, of course, accepted pretty much right away, but told them I couldn't start until August 11. Our schedule at work has been finalized through the 9th, and it is a little over two weeks notice.
I called Zach right away and told him and said that I wasn't making dinner because we were going out to celebrate.

I am so excited to start this job! I'll be out of retail, have a set schedule, and have weekends off with Zach except the occasional Saturday. Which I'm totally okay with.

Positively Selfie

Everyone is self-conscious.
You can deny it all you want, but deep down you know it's true.
And I'm part of the everyone.

One of my goals this year is to be positive. And I've been doing well with it, except when it comes to me.
I've never thought I was a pretty person until Zach came along. I've never thought I was ugly, but just average.
I still don't believe I'm as pretty as he says I am, but I'm working on it. And having Snapchat is helping.
Since I take a bunch of selfies on Snapchat, I figured I would start taking some and posting them on Instagram.
Bedtime selfie
Feeling good selfie
Curly hair don't care selfie
Sunday selfie
My hope by posting more selfies is that I'll be more comfortable in my own skin and feel more positively about myself.

Driving to Grandma's

Who knew that a trip to my grandma's yesterday would prompt a blog post?
Well it did.

My grandma lives 30 minutes inside the Ohio border from Richmond, IN, so the drive to her house is all country roads.
With yesterday being a gorgeous day, like every other day this week, I had beautiful views the whole way to her house. As I was stopped at a stop sign I snapped these pictures with my phone.
Pretty, right?
I love driving to her house.
Then you get to her town and it is the cutest town.
Up until about 10 years ago, it literally was a one stoplight town. Now it's a 2 stoplight town.
And a few months ago, the county fairgrounds committee voted to move the Montgomery County fairgrounds to just outside her town. But that's beside the point.

As I was leaving my grandma's to meet my friends for coffee, this song came on the radio and I thought it was perfect!

Blate Night

If you're not living in Cincinnati (or Dayton, in my case) you're missing out.
Tuesday night I got to meet a bunch of wonderful ladies and get to know the girls behind their blogs.
Thanks Sarah for the photo!
We had Mexican and of course I couldn't go without getting a margarita!

I was too busy chatting away I didn't get hardly any photos but I did snap this goofy one with Heather!

You can see more photos from Erin, Heather, and Jax, or search #cincyblate on Instagram!

I had the best time! If you get a chance to meet a fellow blogger or bloggers DO IT!! It's so much fun!

Sneak Peek

So I've been a slacker at blogging the last week, but it's okay! Great things have been keeping me busy and I can't wait to tell you about it! But until I can, here's this:

Zach and I have been married for a month today!!
ONE month! It feels like just last week we were in our honeymoon! Here's a sneak peek of our wedding photos from our photographer!

(So they might be cropped screen shots because I haven't had time to put the photos in my computer yet. Sorry guys!)

New Family Member

I was going to write a crappy post about what I didn't like about this weekend, or specifically Friday, but then Saturday really turned my weekend around.

Everyone, meet Aurora!
She's a year old and her coloring is called "torbie".
I love her tail.
It looks like a raccoon's tail and it's very fluffy.

Sebastian isn't a big fan of her right now, but they did share this moment together.
Sebastian was watching her explore and then the squirrel came onto our balcony and both cats ran to the window to watch him. The squirrel was drinking standing water on our pool floatie and the kitties about ran into the door.
While we were relaxing she crawled onto my lap and laid down. I LOVE that she's a lap kitty!
She's just so cute!!

Happy Birthday America!

238 years ago this great nation of ours declared it's independence from Great Britain.
Every year on this date, we all get together with our families and friends and celebrate with cookouts and fireworks.
This year I get to miss out on the festivities thanks to work.
But I'm not complaining.
I'm grateful for all my freedoms and I have my red and blue ready to go for work this evening.
Rumor has it that you can see King's Island's fireworks from 5 minutes away from the mall.

How are you celebrating America's birthday?

Bachelorette Party!

Two weeks before the wedding was my Bachelorette Party!
My MOH and my sister planned the whole thing, except I got to choose our dinner location.
In all my Bachelorette glory!
On the way to dinner I tried to take a selfie of all of us, but it didn't work out so well.
So I took a better one while we were waiting for our table.
And a Strawberry Daiquiri was the perfect way to start off the night!

After we ordered our food my sisters and I got a little goofy.
My youngest sister always makes this face. Her profile picture on Facebook is of this face at the wedding.
Since my baby sister is only 17, the night was a little more G-rated than a normal bachelorette party and I was completely okay with that. I'm not into extremely kinky things, or going "clubbing".
We ended up playing games at our apartment.
We played Spin the Bottle with shots. I didn't get any pictures of that game. To play, there was a circle of shots of random drinks: soda, alcohol, water, drink mixes, and each drink had a question about me with it. Each person spun the bottle and asked the question aloud. If she got it right, I had to take the shot, if she got it wrong, she took the shot. When I spun the bottle I had to choose someone to answer the question, before reading it.
It was a really fun game, but I ended up drinking most of the shots. My girls know me so well!

The second game we played was Pin the Penis on the Man. We each drew our own penis and had to pin it on the man. I got pictures of this game, but for privacy reasons, you only get to see this one.
Since most of us are old ladies with careers, most of us were tired by 11, and 3 girls left after this game.
Once they left we put in Bridesmaids and started watching it and halfway through my stepmom picked up my sister and another girl left. After the movie was over my last friend left, and my sister and I went to bed.

Even though it wasn't as crazy as some bachelorette parties, I had a great night with all my friends.
