Mini Vacation

The week before Thanksgiving my friend Bridgette and I had planned to go to Disney World.
Unfortunately, due to unforeseen circumstances, we were unable to go.
However, we both still had the time off work.
I ended up moving a day or two to accommodate other things, so I only had 3 days off, but still, time off work is time off work.

My first day off I treated myself to breakfast at Bob Evans then enjoyed a lazy day of Netflix.

The next day Bridgette and I had a movie day.
She came over and we watched a few movies and did facials and she stayed the night because we planned to go to Cincinnati the next day.

Friday, Zach took the day off work and we all three went to Cincinnati.
We ate brunch at IHOP, shopped at a local mall, then met up with another friend for drinks.

We went to a bar that was kind of like a novelty place, it was based around arcade games and had all kinds of old school arcade games you could actually play. We found the Pac-Man game and played many, many rounds before we finished our “Hulk Hogan” drinks and left.

Around 1am we started to make the trek home. On the way home we stopped for some food and at a local outdoor shopping center and take Christmas tree pictures.

Saturday, we slept in until noon (seeing as how we only got home at 3am) and I made waffles for brunch. The rest of the day was Netflix and chill.

Sunday, my father-in-law hosted Thanksgiving at his house, and it was nice be able to relax and spend the afternoon with family to wrap up my mini vacation.

Friday Letters

Dear mini vacation,
You have been so great. I've been able to sleep in, be lazy, paint my nails, and have a girls/movie day with my friend Bridgette. Today is going to be even better because we're going to spend the day in Cincinnati and meet up with another friend for dinner and drinks!

Dear Bridgette,
Thanks for having a girls day with me. The movies were great and the facials were refreshing.

Dear Zach,
Thanks for taking the day off work to spend it in Cincinnati.

Dear holidays,
I'm so excited you are right around the corner. This is one of my favorite times of the year where I get to see all my family and give gifts to those I love.

Dear weekend,
I hope you are great. We have the Moore Thanksgiving on Sunday, so I'll get to see all the nieces and nephews.

Happy Friday!

I'm Thankful

Thanksgiving is next week!
I can't wait to see my family and enjoy some delicious food!

Because it's Thursday, and I know I won't be posting next Thursday, I wanted to show my thanks for some pretty important things in my life.

First and foremost, I am thankful for my family. Without them, I wouldn't be who I am today.
At the wedding, someone came up with the bright idea to get the entire family together for a photo.
He is my rock, my best friend, and my love. I can't imagine life without him by my side.

These three ladies are some of my closest friends and we can talk about anything, good, bad or ugly.

My kitties
These two can be quite the handful some days, but then when I see them napping all peaceful, they are quite adorable. They always know when you're down and love to be near you at all times, even if it's in the bathroom.

My job.
Without it I wouldn't be able to live my life or pay my bills or save up for fun trips or other fun things.

My health.
All too often we all take for granted our wonderful healthcare system and the ability to get relief quickly. I had a cold last week, and it was nice to be able to go to the drug store to get relief for my symptoms so I could make it through the work days.

My apartment.
I love being able to sleep in my bed or lounge around on my couch after a long day at work or busy and fun weekend without worrying about being cold or wet from the weather.

What are some of the things you're thankful for?

Where have I been?

It seems as though my posts have been few and far between.
I mean, my last post was almost 2 months ago and the one before that was 5 months ago.

Well, I'm back! And I'm vacation for the rest of the week so I plan to get a few posts prepared!

I've been enjoying lots of time with family and friends doing various fun things!

October was a busy month. Almost every weekend we had something going on.
The second Saturday of every month is family dinner at my dad's house. We usually have dinner and play board game and enjoy each other's company. Last month instead of the board game, we went to a local corn maze and did the maze in teams of boys against girls.
The boys won, but only by a few minutes.

The next weekend we walked in our local Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk.
Our team raised a total of $4,800+ for the walk, and our team goal was $3,500.
We have so many ideas for fundraising next year so hopefully we can crush our goal again!

The next weekend, we joined a lot of my family in Michigan and celebrated my cousin marrying his middle school/high school sweetheart.
The ceremony was a beautiful and intimate catholic ceremony and the reception was in this rustic restored garage. It was perfect for their personalities.
They were both glowing and happy the whole night.

The next morning before driving back home, my aunt and uncle hosted a brunch.
The restaurant was right on Lake Michigan so of course Zach and I stopped and got some photos.

The last weekend of October was Halloween, so we finished the month off right by carving pumpkins and dressing up!
My pumpkin is the cat.

I'm not sure what Zach was exactly, someone called him a Shakespeare play.
I was Red Riding Hood, and our friend was Star Lord.

November's been a pretty low key month.
The first day of the month was the same day my brother-in-law and sister-in-law had a birthday party for all three of their boys. The twins' birthday is October 25, and their brother's birthday is November 2.

The first Saturday we had family pictures with my mom and stepdad and siblings.
The place we went to prints their photos on site. I didn't order any prints of Zach and I, but I was able to order my Christmas cards and get them the same day!
Once I mail them out, I promise I share them with all of you.

This past Saturday was family dinner.
My dad made his delicious pot roast and we played Cranium.
Like my drawing of a wishing well?

I hope you're all having a great hump day!

Life update in list form

A sporadic blogger? Yep, that’s me. Or at least that’s what my friend called me when she noticed I hadn’t blogged in a couple of months. Oh well, c’est la vie.

So what have I been doing since I last blogged? Instead of boring you with the details, I’m going to update you list style, and with pictures!

1. I completed 2 rounds of the 21 Day Fix.  Full post to come later!
2. We celebrated July 4th with my family.
3. We celebrated Zach getting his master’s with good food and friends.

4. Enjoyed summer with food trucks, my work’s company picnic, and swimming.

5. My cousin is getting married in October, and we showered his bride-to-be with love at her shower.

6. Met my mom’s adorable new puppy, Max!

7. Bowled down breast cancer for a fundraiser for our walk.

8. Celebrated my mom’s 50th birthday.

9. Celebrated my niece’s 5th birthday.

10. Moved my baby sister into her college dorm.

11. Went to a Bengals game and they won 21-10.

12. Tried a new local pizza place.

13. Celebrated my cousin’s little boy’s 1st birthday.

14. Went to the Popcorn Festival with a friend.
15. Had a girls night with the ladies of my family.

16. Finally fixed my computer to be able to blog without wanting to throw my computer across the room.

I can't wait to get caught up on what you've been up to!
Happy Hump Day!

You guys. It is finally FRIDAY!! I have been looking forward to today since the workday ended on Monday and it's finally here!!

1. This week has been awful. I've been so busy at work and dealing with the meanest people. I get off an hour earlier than usual today so my weekend gets to start a smidge sooner!

2. I ordered the 21 Day Fix and it's supposed to be delivered today! I can't wait to start this program and feel even better about myself!

3. Zach and I have plans to go to the drive-in tonight, if the weather cooperates, and we're going to see Jurassic World and Pitch Perfect 2.

4. I can't believe it's already almost half way through the year! Yesterday marked 6 months until Christmas.

5. This week Zach and I have been spending some quality time at the pool doing some night swimming. I like it better because it means less people and Zach and I move all around the pool. I find it to be a nice alternative to the gym, but it won't be like that for long.

Happy Friday!!

5 on Friday

I haven't done one of these posts in awhile so why not get back into them now? :)

1. It's Friday! And I get off at 5:30 instead of my usual 8pm, so I can get my weekend started sooner!
2. I work my first 10 hour Saturday tomorrow, but I'm not complaining. It's overtime so my paycheck will look really great having those extra 10 hours!
3. I have the best Father's Day gift for my dad this year and I know he's going to love it!
4. I'm really considering the 21 Day Fix program to help me with both fitness and healthy eating/portion control. I want to do a blog post about it and track my progress here if I do start the program.
5. Tomorrow night I'll be going to a Dragons game with my friend, her parents, and her daughter. Her daughter will be participating in some of the between innings activities.

In honor of Father's Day being this weekend, I'll leave you with a picture of my dad and I being goofy about 5 years ago.
And that is my baby brother giving bunny ears.

Happy Friday!

Anniversary Getaway: Part Two

Did you miss part one? Check it out here!

Sunday morning we got up and showered and ate breakfast at the hotel.
We had planned on spending the day in Put-In-Bay and we did just that.

We rode the ferry over to the island and rented a golf cart to get around.
We found another neat candy shop and Zach bought a lot more taffy. They had multiple sizes of jawbreakers and this one was huge!

We walked around downtown Put-In-Bay and the Boardwalk.
It was Founder's Day there and they had a little fair going on in the park.

After walking around, we got back in the golf cart and made our way to the only mini golf course on the island.
This is one of my favorite courses. It's surrounded by trees and nature and this time we weren't waiting on anyone.

This also started a new tradition for Zach and I: The Moore Anniversary Mini Open.
We go to two different courses and whoever has the least strokes after both courses is the winner.
This year I won by 7 strokes.
My trophy was mini magnetic snow globe.

After finishing the course, we got back into the golf cart and explored the island some more.
We found some hidden beaches and I got a few shots of the lake.

We decided to start heading home earlier than planned, but we did everything we wanted in less time than we thought it would take.
As we were waiting for the ferry to take us back to the mainland, it started raining and just as we were all getting on the ferry it rained harder and at an angle. By the time I sat down on the ferry, my whole right side was soaked, but my left side was dry as a bone. Luckily we were heading home when we got back so I didn't care too much.

We drove the 3.5 hours and made it home by 8 Sunday night.
Being the traditionalist I am, once we got home, we relaxed a little before pulling out our wedding cake.
We had a cupcake cake at our wedding, but I made sure to have a top tier to save for our anniversary.
We both ate a couple of bites, and it actually wasn't that bad. It still tasted like cake and icing, but you could definitely taste that it had been frozen for a year.

This year's anniversary was wonderful. I can only hope for the rest of them to be just as fun!

Anniversary Getaway: Part One

Sunday was Zach and I's one year anniversary and a few months ago we decided to take a weekend trip up to Lake Erie.
Our first vacation together was to there and we thought it was a great idea to go again for our one year anniversary.

Saturday morning rolled around and we both got up, showered, and hit the road.
We decided to make a stop on our way out of town to one of our favorite coffee houses (even though we barely get to go there) Ghostlight Coffee.

We drove the 3.5 hours north and stopped in Downtown Sandusky and walked around and ate lunch.
When we were walking around, Zach found a really neat candy shop and bought a whole bunch of taffy. We decided to eat lunch outside, and saw a wedding party taking pictures near the fountain.

After walking around a little bit more, we went and checked into our hotel, then went to the Marblehead Lighthouse.
Being a lighthouse it is right on the edge of the lake. The house on the grounds is a museum, but it was closed along with walking up to the top of the lighthouse.

After leaving there, we visited the Goodwill down the street from our hotel (which was really nice, compared to the ones around Dayton), then found a mini golf course across the street from Goodwill.
The course was nice, but we ended up waiting once we finished every hole for the family in front of us that kept arguing.

After finishing the course we walked next door for dinner.
At the table were old Trivial Pursuit cards, that we only knew one answer to.

After dinner we went back to our hotel room and relaxed and watched Harry Potter and Hunger Games on ABC Family.

Happy anniversary to my favorite person in the world, my best friend, my soul mate, and the love of my life.
It's been an amazing year with you by my side and I can't wait for what's to come.
I love you, Zachary! Here's to the rest of our life!

Lake Erie Throwback

This weekend is Zach and I's first wedding anniversary!
We have a small weekend trip planned to Lake Erie/Put In Bay and I cannot wait!
So, in honor of Throwback Thursday, here are some photos from our first vacation together/first time to Lake Erie.
This is one of my favorite pictures of us.
